I recently purchased a membership for a rock climbing gym in Monterey, California. The starting fee was $90 plus $45 per month. I believe this is a very reasonable rate if you take advantage of it. I usually go rock climbing twice a week, so I believe this price is a very good value (about $5 per visit).

I think this service is a very cheap price for the amount of rock climbing you can get out of it. The people at the rock gym are fully willing to teach you basic rock climbing moves for free and are generally very friendly, social people. Sanctuary Rock Gym also offers many other discount membership options. For example, high school students can have a membership here for $35 a month and a couple can have a membership for $84 a month. There are other options available too. As if that is not enough, the actual rock climbing gym is a very cool place. They have many walls you can take with different paths marked by skill level. I have had many great experiences here.

Make sure that you will use a rock climbing membership to its full capability if you purchase one. I have seen too many cases of people that get a membership, and go less than once a month! Also, make sure you can get a lot out of your gym. I have also seen many gyms that hardly have anything to offer. Just be careful, and have fun!
