Description of service
This is a very aggressive and difficult large house cat and cutting his claws at home is very difficult. He had to be boarded for three weeks while I was ill and did not use his scratching board enough being somewhat lethargic. He also needed immunizations. This is a "senior" cat so he is also more at risk for other problems like diabetes. In all, he got a rabies shot and claw trim and blood sugar test. I get a small "repeat customer" discount as well, having used this clinic for many years.
Review of Service
While they had trouble handling this difficult cat, his needs were met and we got the shot he needed while he was restrained. He is overweight but his sugar was OK so I was reassured about his health. I was told to continue the portion control on his diet for very gradual weight loss.
I was told at the time of service that if fees were too much for me right now, they could be spread over several months which is very nice to know and I think is excellent customer service. I once utilized this payment method when this cat had a major urinaey problem eight years ago.
The clinic is very patient with this cat and manage to traumatize him as little as possible. Their rates are very fair compared to other quotes I got from other local vets.
Tips
When you find a vet who genuinely cares for your pet and who also understands that money may be tight, you think really hard before switching. Continuity of care may save you money in the long run as well since they will know your pet and be more sensitive to changes in behavior and health. It's worth the time to find a vet who meets your needs and who fits your pet's personality. When you have an older cat like mine whose personality is pretty much like Attila the Hun on a rampage, it really makes a difference in your experience as well as the pet's experience.
