Description of service
The In Vitro Fertilization practice provided us with two cycles of IVF treatments. The treatment consisted of ovulation induction through medications, the retrieval of the eggs, fertilization of the eggs and the transfer. They also provided us with financial counseling, insurance assistance and pre/post monitoring care.
Review of Service
We were very pleased with the service and attention given to us by the staff. My wife was successful in getting pregnant after the second cycle. The process itself went very smoothly and the second cycle took. The hours were accommodating (open early and late) so my wife was able to have her appointments made around her work schedule. We have friends that went through IVF a few years earlier and, from our experience, it seems that the process has become much easier especially the medication injections. Thankfully everything went smoothly and we have our son now.
Tips
Before starting IVF, you should find out what your insurance does and does not cover. The treatment is expensive and can take several cycles to complete. In our state (Connecticut) the treatments were covered by insurance. However, the fertility drugs were not. The medications are very expensive but they vary in cost depending on the type of treatment that's necessary. For us, it averaged around $3,500 per cycle (monthly). We met with the financial counselor before starting the treatments and she was able to explain what was covered by insurance and what wasn't. The doctors also were able to give us an idea of how many cycles it might take. Remember, though, that it's not a guarantee and there are many factors that influence the outcome.
