Description of service
I received a gentle exfoliating body scrub made with turbinado sugar and vanilla. The scrub smelled delicious, and it was warmed so that it felt really pleasant going onto my skin. The therapist was very responsive to requests to go gentler on more tender areas of my skin, so it wasn't uncomfortable at any point.
The price of the massage was $85, plus a $15 tip.
After the scrub was finished, I took a quick shower to rinse off and I received a moisturizing massage with a rich body cream. The whole process took an hour, and I came out smelling and feeling great.
Review of Service
The service was excellent; the same spa offers a wide assortment of body scrubs and masks, all of which are priced equally. I think prices have gone up a bit since I was last there. When I checked prices in September of 2007, they had gone up to $95.
The environment in the spa is also really great; these spa owners made a big effort to make it inviting and peaceful, with free tea for patrons, gentle background music, and an overall good feeling. I didn't feel rushed or hurried at any point, and I got the full attention of my therapist and the spa staff.
Tips
When you book your appointment, make sure to mention your skin type. Spas usually carry an assortment of products for people with varying levels of sensitivity; the spa I went to carried a Thai Herb Salt Scrub for people with more rough skin, and sugar based scrubs for delicate skin. It's also a really good idea to disclose any allergies that you have, because sometimes spas put unexpected ingredients in their body products!
