Description of service
The service comprised one treatment of laser hair removal for hair from a pencil eraser-sized mole on my cheek. The treatment took place at a dermatologist's outpatient clinic and for complete cessation of hair growth would have required "a number" more treatments.
Since the service was performed by a dermatologist, a variety of other services were available including acid peels, wart removal, acne treatment, mole removal/biopsy, dermabrasion, and a variety of other cosmetic and dermatopathologic services.
Review of Service
"Don't worry, for a area that size it will be very inexpensive." Apparently this is a lie. The dermatologist charged the same amount for depilating my pencil-eraser sized mole as she would to do one laser treatment on my wife's legs.
I understand a dermatologist is a real doctor and all, and that using the laser costs money, but I'm really surprised that a) a procedure I was promised would cost "a lot less" than processing a larger area didn't and b) that I let myself get talked into doing it at all in the first place. I'm still not sure how that latter happened.
Tips
Guys, if you have a mole on your face that you're rather fond of and don't like to shave, just pluck the damned hairs out. You'll be better off for it and the pain of yanking hairs out builds character.
