the Cost of Preschool at a Church

My family was keeping my sister's little girl for a couple of months during a family emergency where the little girl's parents were unable to care for her (extended hospital stay). Since we wanted to get her into a routine and keep her mind off her mother's health we enrolled her in a local church run preschool for half a day, 5 days a week. The $120 covered all supplies used in class as well as a snack a day.

The learning that my niece did while at this preschool was absolutely astounding! In a 5 year old class, they were teaching them words that should be recognized on sight, thereby preparing them to read. When my niece finally got to return to her family in November, she could count to 30, spell her own name, knew the entire alphabet, and had a reading vocabulary of around 100 words. I am just amazed at the progress these teachers were able to make with children so young!

My niece made lots of new friends, and due to a security card entrance system, I never worried about her safety.

There were a couple of church sponsored preschools in our area, but we went with this one because of the security measures in place. When my own children were smaller we had a scare concerning trespassers entering the building. This preschool used the type of cards that hotels use for anyone entering the building. Visitors without the card had to be manually "buzzed in" after stating their name and purpose.
