I took a 12 week class on beginning Chinese. The class met for 1 1/2 hours per week and the total cost of the class was $1200.
Review of Service
When I looked into different beginning Chinese classes, there was a huge variety of costs. This class that I chose ended up being on the high end. However, it had the smallest class size which was very important to me. The class started with only 10 people but by the 4th week it was down to the 7 who ended up finishing it.
I liked the format of the class. Our teacher did very little instruction and most of our classes focused on conversating and practicing with the other students. This wouldn't be a great option for someone who has social anxiety order or just isn't comfortable interacting with others, but for me personally I found it to be a great way to learn.
I enjoyed the class enough that I went back through the same program for an intermediate class.
Tips
Be sure you're taking class size into consideration when signing up for a class. If you have social anxiety issues it's a good idea to find out what the class format will be before choosing it.
