Description of service
The lessons were a 2 day basic course, comprising of a theory and practical element. Students were instructed in the rules of the road, avoiding hazards and appropriate reactions, positioning on the road and turning techniques. The bikes were provided, as was compulsory safety equipment (for example the helmet). Instructors also advised students on recommended safety gear, appropriate size of bike (based on the weight/power ratio) and other advice based on their lengthy experience as motorcycle riders.
Review of Service
The lessons were good. They are compulsory before attaining a motorcycle learners permit, but the information provided is invaluable. Previously, motorcycle licences were granted after a simple test, without any restriction or education, and this current system seems much safer and directed at avoiding fatality and injury.
Tips
Do as much research as you can, before you get your bike (which you wont be able to ride away from the sale yard until you have your licence, anyway). It means you'll be able to get your bike as soon as possible after obtaining your licence.
It's only a 2 day course, so it's easy to think that you'll pass without any issues, but a lot of people fail the test the first time. Do the practice test cd that is provided (if you are given one) or atleast read and revise the information given on the first day.
Dress appropriately. No point wearing a pair of shorts and sandals if you're going to be getting on a motorbike.
