Description of service
Our son needed his portrait taken for his Senior Year book. We selected a photographer based on the recommendation of a friend of a friend. The price we paid included all the pictures we needed and as many poses as we wanted. After the appointment for taking all the pictures at a local waterfront park, we were able to chose 20 "sheets" of pictures, as well as the 8 photos we wanted mounted into a nice black photo collage type portfolio. This also included the photographer submitting the year book photo to the high school as per their specifications, prior to the October deadline.
Review of Service
The photographer we chose worked very well with my son to create a casual and comfortable atmosphere. This was very important to me because I wanted these photos to capture his personality and at this cost, I felt it was important to take our time and get it right. The day of shooting the pictures was fun and not the draining experience I had been dreading. She worked fairly quickly, but made sure to get the details right. She welcomed the use of the props my son had brought with him - namely his guitar, and she was very accommodating in the whole process. I felt that she had a great and easy way of getting my son to look at the camera without it looking forced or too posed. She was creative and came up with several poses I hadn't seen anyone else do, that suited the location and the situation. Taking the pictures outdoors did not diminish the professional look of the collection at all. We were pleased with the outcome and almost all the proofs were worth keeping!
Tips
When looking for a photographer, you must consider not only the final cost, but also see what is included. We had lower quotes for similar packages, but they did not include as many photos or the folio. Also, it is nice to work with a photographer that is comfortable with the age group of the portrait subject - in this case high school kids.
