Description of service
This is a service I used to have video games sent to me in the mail. The service provides games for virtually all video consoles available in the market including hand held gaming devices. The price of the service depends on the amount of games you receive in the mail. It can range from 1-5 games depending on the company and plan you choose to use. The price can range anywhere from $10-60 dollars a month depending on the retailer and the plan type that you choose.I pay approximately $17 dollars a month for 1 game out at a time including tax.
Review of Service
I rate this service an A because I am an avid gamer with multiple consoles at home. The prices of video games nowadays, especially new releases, can be upwards of $50-60 dollars per game. With multiple new releases coming out every month it can become quite an expensive hobby to maintain. With the creation of Online Game rentals you can sample and play as many games as you like at just a fraction of the price of buying them. Also there are no late fees for keeping the game which is great for the games that take more time to beat. Most people will try to sell a game after beating it and will get pennies for them in return. For those type of games that don't have great replay value, renting it may be a better option than purchasing it. The service is fairly fast in regards to the delivery of the games. In my experience they average a 2-3 day turn around once they receive my previous game. At that rate I average about 3-4 games a month. The only drawback I have with this service is that you have to wait a few days to receive the game to play it and sometimes for new releases you just want to get your hands on it right away.
Tips
For those wanting to use this service I recommend reading reviews of the retailer you plan to use. Compare the prices, selection of games and the consoles they cater to. Finally look at your game shelf and see how many you own that's collecting dust and losing value, it may be time to start renting them from now on.
