the Price of Checking Accounts

This price is for a basic checking account that allows 10 checks per month to be written without any additional charges. The monthly price would be reduced to $6 if I had direct deposit, but I don't so that was not an option. I have an ATM card that was provided at no extra cost and I can make five withdrawals each month for free. I can also view my account activity online but I can't do any transactions through the website. There is no verdraft protection included with this type of account, but they will send me a text message when my balance is below a certain amount, even though there is no minimum balance required in the account.

It was simple to set up the account, I just had to show my license and social security card and fill out two papers. I was able to take my ATM card with me when I left and I have no had any problems with the account. I know that the text message feature works because I have received some of them telling me I had too low of a balance. This has been a good bank because they have many branches and are part of a national ATM network.

Make sure you sign up for an account with no minimum balance so that you don't have to worry about getting hit with extra charges. And try to have direct deposit to get a lower monthly fee.
