the Price of Checking Accounts

This is for the one month charge for the checking account plus an additional service fee of $7. I have had this account for many years and have used various banking services in the past with much lower fees.

For a financial determination, I needed a copy of my monthly statement and my printer was not operational at the time. While at the bank taking care of another matter, I asked for a printout of my account, a service that was always free before. On my account, a $7 charge was posted for this which annoyed me a great deal.

While the bank personnel were very polite and accomodating, no one bothered to mention this rather high charge for a simple two page printout. Someone should have at the least mentioned that there was a fee. I am not happy that all fees have been inflated nor that now an overdraft fee has additional fees added to an already steep charge. This is a major nation-wide bank. Many other banks have no fee checking and I am about to switch as a result of being nickel and dimed to death.It seems like there is another new charge or increased fee every two or three months.

Read fee schedules carefully before choosing a bank. And when they send out account "update" information, be aware that this always is going to cost you more and read each notice carefully to avoid surprises.
