Description of service
First off, I'll just say that I was clueless about car insurance. All I knew was that I needed it and if I was in a wreck it would help me pay for the damages. That's it. So my first few times of buying car insurance I did not shop around. I pretty much picked an agency out of the phone book and went with it. Shopping around can save you a LOT of money though.
Review of Service
I decided that because of the year of my car and because I was inexperienced and more likely to have an accident that I would just get liability only. So the first few times that I paid for insurance I was paying about $200 dollars a month. That's quite a bit of money especially for someone that was straight out of high school. But since I had been with a few different companies I thought maybe that was the normal rate for someone with my age and experience. Anyways, one of the last companies I was with I missed a payment. And they dropped me. So this time my mom encouraged me to shop around. I drove around to some of our local agencys and sat down and talked with the agents about a quote. The last place I went was incredible. They had excellent customer service and my agent was just so informative. And get this, my insurance was only going to be $45 dollars a month!
I felt like I had hit the lottery! Plus, she sat down with me for quite some time and explained to me what would be covered and what would not if I were to be in an accident.
Tips
Definitely shop around for car insurance. Don't just settle for the first thing that comes along because you may end up wasting money. Make sure you are informed of what you are getting and what will be covered if you are in an accident so you can get the proper coverage.
