Description of service
I recently used an online insurance agency to get some insurance on the fly when I bought a used car and financed it. We all know that you have to have full coverage when you finance a vehicle, but I did not go in prepared. So I did as instructed "quote, buy, print". Not exactly that easy, but a heck of a lot easier than going to the office of a brick and mortar insurance agency and having to prove this and that just to have the privilege of paying them for insurance.
I completed this minor miracle of modern technology right there in the dealers office and on his computer no less. This was my first time using this form of insurance and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Not only was it legit, it was easily accepted at the dealership. It was by far the fastest part of the whole car buying process.
I would absolutely do it again in a pinch. My only issue was the price. Since I didn't have time to shop around, I think I overpaid. I will be getting my insurance via internet in the future. I will have to wait and see how well the insurance pays out if and when I ever need to make a claim.
Review of Service
The service was pretty fast and was user friendly. It is a legitimate way of getting insurance. The account set up was easy and the e-mail verification was convenient and instant.
If I wanted to haggle the rate at all it would be impossible. There is a number you can call to speak with a live operator to ask questions, although; I have not used that option yet.
Tips
In a situation where you might have to have proof of insurance it could work really well--If you had a laptop, wireless connection, and a printer in you car (some of us do).
Do your research ahead of time if you could, it will really help you find peace of mind.
