Description of service
We have fiber optic internet service, when we signed up for it last year, it was priced at $49.99 per month for the first 12 months, as long as you signed up for a minimum one year contract. At the end of the first year, the price is supposedly going to go up in price (if I remember correctly) to approximately $55 to $65 dollars per month. This monthly fee includes the modem provided by the company as well as service for up to three additional computers in your household to be networked together to your main computer. There are no taxes with this service, at least not listed as a separate line on the bill. Our bill has numerous fees and taxes listed, though they are all listed under the fiber optic television and phone services which we also receive as part of this business' promotional plan. Our total bill for all three services is up to $220 a month ($50 internet, $90 TV, $76 phone, and $4 long distance), and will increase to almost $290 a month after the one year promotional plan ends.
Review of Service
The actual quality of the fiber optic internet service is good, it is fast, but not that much faster than our previous cable internet service provider, and certainly not worth the huge difference in price that we are now paying (almost $10 and by the middle of this year almost $25). We do not use the internet for tremendously large files that require the need to use faster download and upload speeds, so the difference in speed quality for us is really not that significant.
Tips
Unless you are operating a business, or for some reason have the need to upload and download huge files constantly, we would recommend going to the more affordable, and almost as fast cable internet. There really is not that much of a difference from what we can tell.
