Description of service
The price quoted above is the standard rate offered for a monthly bundle of fiber optic communications services provided by a telephone / cable company. The service includes a broadband internet connection that operates at a speed of 5 Mbps, a VoIP telephone service that operates over the fiber optic lines and provides telephone service via the broadband, and cable television service that includes a digital video recorder box for two televisions in the house, two premium movie packages, around three dozen high definition television channels, and on demand video service.
Review of Service
For the bundle of packages that you get for the money, the rates are pretty competitive. The internet service is something that has served us well, particularly in providing us the means to quickly connect to the internet and do work via telecommuting. The speed of the internet is likely the fastest connection I have personally used in my life and provides us a constant speed to do whatever we might want to on the internet. The telephone service does have some hiccups every now and again, usually when we have the television on a high definition channel, someone on the telephone, and someone using a lot of bandwidth on the computer all at once - the service can become overwhelmed, and usually the telephone signal has some hiccups in the voice quality. Otherwise, the telephone service works well. The television service works fine as well, and the premium movie channels give us something to watch when we want to stay in for a night.
Tips
If you're looking into purchasing a fiber optic bundle from a local telecommunications company, make sure you understand the rates and whether or not what they offer you initially is a regular rate. Check to see what the television offerings are, and ensure that they do not put extra services on the television if you do not want them - that alone can save you an extra ten or twenty dollars a month from the price we pay. Thirdly, check to see what kind of bandwidth the internet offers and if they cap your service at a certain amount of data for a month. Sometimes, we end up streaming video online, which can eat up your available download capacity for a month on a limit. Be aware of the specifics of your package overall, and don't sign up for something you don't understand.
