Description of service
I paid for only black ink, and for care and good services. The man that did my tattoo first drew the tattoo up on what looked like tracing paper. He then stuck the tracing paper to the part of my ribs that I wanted my tattoo on. He pulled the paper away and there was a thin outline of what the tattoo would look like on my skin. I did not like the placement of the tattoo so he rubbed it off with what looked like rubbing alcohol and tried another spot. Once we landed on a spot that I liked he took out two different types of needles. The first needle was thin and long and was used only to do the outline of the tattoo. After he finished the outline he took out another needle that was shorter and had more tips. This needle was done to do the shading on the inside of the circles.
I'm not exactly sure how the money was divided but I knew that you were supposed to tip the tattoo artists, so another $20 went towards a tip. I do not think materials were that expensive, since they weren't replaced each session. They were just cleaned.
Review of Service
I had a great experience at this particular tattoo parlor. This was my first and only tattoo and the guy was very sensitive to any and all fears I had. Luckily, I went in with both of my brothers and them being by my side really helped ease my inhibitions. I decided to go first, and I was happy to get it over with. After I got tattooed they cleaned any blood off and gave me a great guide as to how to care for the tattoo during the next few weeks. They did not just leave me hanging. They also told me to make sure I called if I had any problems, and began to tell me stories about how they got into the business in the first place. We developed a sort of bond, that really humanized these guys, and made me feel like I could trust them with my body. I did not feel like I was getting cheated, or tricked into paying more than I should have. They were very honest and upfront about what they were all about. I would definitely reccomend this tattoo parlor to anyone who is looking. Another great attribute was that there wasn't a long wait, and they stayed open late so all three of us could get our tattoos done on the same day.
Tips
If you are interested in getting a tattoo I would make sure to go to a few different tattoo parlors and meet as many of the artists as you can before you make a decision. Since this is permanant, you will want to know that you can trust whoever is doing your tattoo to give you advice on care, and freedom to keep in contact if you have any questions. Also, ask around to friends that have tattoos. Ask where they went and what their experience was like. You want an artist who is willing to spend a long time with you to ensure that you get exactly what you are looking for. If a place is crowded, come back another day or make an appointment. This isn't something you want your artist to rush.
Before I decided to get a tattoo I wish I knew that it is okay to go into a few different places without giving them your business. You shouldn't feel like you are obliged to get a tattoo from someone just because you walked into their store. I would have ended up getting a tattoo from someone I didn't feel as comfortable with because I was in the mindset that I just wanted to get it done. Thank goodness the first place I went to didnt have any open appointments, then I wouldn't have found the place I loved.
