the Price of Liposuction

I had liposuction done on three areas, my outer thighs, love handles and stomach. The cost was $1,800 for outer thighs, $1,800 for love handles, $1,900 for stomach, there were no gratuties, however, there was a $135.00 lab fee for blood work prior to the appointment, and $200.00 for a "compression suit", the doctor recommended purchasing two compressions suits, but I did not. There was no cost for any prescriptions, as none were needed. Additionally, the compression suit was required after the surgery to keep the skin tight to the body, to reattach to the muscle where the fat had been removed.

I felt the quality of service was excellent, I was comfortable with the doctor, his staff assisting during the surgery. In retrospect, I realized the doctor did a good job removing the fat, the outer thighs are very even, however, there is one area that was missed, but a very small area. It is very important to make sure the doctor has experience, and gets out all the fat, or you can end up "lumpy". What was not good about the service was the recovery time, I was lead to believe it was an easy in and out minor surgery, I would be back to work in a about 2 days, and my exercise/work out routine could be resumed in a week or so. It took me almost a full week to be able to wear more form fitting clothing, and I was expecting to be able to resume my exercise/workout and running routines in a week or so, but in reality, it took me 6 weeks before I was able to run my normal 3 miles daily, and my hour long daily exercise/work out sessions. The other unexpected item was the compression suit, it was very uncomfortable, very tight, and I was expecting to be out of the compression suit within a week, and actually it was 6 weeks until I was able to not wear it. I felt the entire bill was a bit expensive, but now that I had the surgery, and it has been about 4 months, Iam glad I did it.

In searching for a doctor, Iwould ask to see patient photos of clients the doctor did, to ensure he has experience in liposuction, as you dont want to end up lumpy. I wish I had known the recovery time was actually a lot longer than I expected. Otherwise, I am glad I had it done, would I do it again, probably not.
