Description of service
I can't afford day care, and usually get a younger teen to come in for $5 per hour. I would leave my 2 kids. I only make $11/hour so I can't afford more than that. I needed someone for a few hours in the morning 1 day a weeks. I spoke with a friend that does day care in her own home. She would only let people pay for the whole week even if they weren't coming. Which I understand.
She made a deal with me that I could pay her $5/hr for my two kids temporarily til she filled all her spots. So I brought my children there for 2 1/2 hours. Thinking I would only pay her about $15. Later when I went to write her a check I asked her how much and she told me $50. Apparently that was her cutting me a deal and only charging me for a whole day instead of a whole week.
Review of Service
Needless to say I was really upset, being a friend for one thing, for 2, she didn't stick to her word. Also, That is like $25 an hour for her. Way more than I made. Considering I only make $11 an hour. I just about broke down in tears, especially since she knew our financial situation already. If I knew I was going to pay that much I would have gone to work and left them there with her for the entire day. That way my day of work wouldn't have been completely wasted.
Tips
Make sure to look into prices and compare. I find it way more worth my while to have someone come into my own home, on my own terms. IF they promise you a discount, you might want to get that in writing also.
