Description of service
I went to a major retailer and cashed my payroll check. I waited in line at the customer service desk, then the cashier cashed my check. I had to enter my social security number onto a pin pad, which I find annoying as it's a security hazard. It took about 10 minutes all said and done.
Review of Service
I had to wait in line a bit, but that is expected on a Friday. Sometimes they tell me the check is declined, which is silly because I work for a major company who I'm sure has plenty of money in their payroll account. It seems to only work sporadically, and I think it is a problem on the check casher's end. This place is really the cheapest place around, so I will put up with a lot more to save a few bucks. Sometimes they don't have enough cash in the till, and I have to wait for a manager to bring more, and that takes another five or six minutes. Every other place usually charges a percentage, which gets expensive if you are cashing a check with a large dollar amount.
Tips
I would definitely avoid any check casher on Friday if you can.
A place that charges a flat way is the way to go.
