Description of service
This was $60 for the piercing, my initial stud, one extra ring for afterwards (this was "free" though) the cost of the sterile materials and the piercing facilities.
Review of Service
The service was great! I was visiting Lake George with friends and decided to just go for it. I went with a few friends and in front of us were some drunk kids. The establishment refused to pierce any of them because they were drunk and that made me feel much better. They seemed to be a very respectable, clean establishment. When I went to the back, they allowed my friends to join me and everything was clearly sterile. In fact, the man who was piercing made it a point to show me the bags in which everything was sealed and him opening them to use. Even though it was very late at night and we were in somewhat of a party town, the shop was clean, well kept and really put me at ease, considering how nervous I was. In fact, the people who worked there were incredibly good at putting me at ease. In addition, the price was really competitive. They even gave me a free ring to use once I was able to remove the original stud. Overall, the experience was much better than any doctor or mall I have ever been to for my ear piercings.
Tips
Of course, as with any piercing, sterile, sterile, sterile. No questions asked. Make sure you see the person piercing you remove needles from sterile packaging and if you feel like there is something amiss, go with your gut. It is always better to skip the piercing for now and make sure that you are safe in your environment and feeling good about the state of your health. A great way to tell if a place is any good is to ask the people who work there if they've ever been pierced at their own shop or by any of the people who work there. If the answer is no, it may not necessarily mean that the place is no good, but you may want to think long and hard about your surroundings and environment. As far as price is concerned, it is very important not to sacrifice cleanliness for cost. Even though you may be able to save a couple bucks, it really isn't worth risking your health especially with a piercing. Also, if you are nervous about a place you may want to ask to see a piercer's portfolio or how long they've been at it. Most won't take any offense, they are just as interested in health and safety as you are. The ones who do take offense? Well, you probably don't want to be pierced by them.
