Description of service
The piercing itself was really $40 and that fee included the jewelry and the tools/studio time. The extra $10 was for the gratuity.
Review of Service
The lady who pierced me was really good. I went to a shop that my friend had recommended. It was really clean inside and she made sure to let me know (and showed me) that everything she was using was either new or had been sterilized. I told her about where I wanted the ring and she made a mark. She used these tong-like things to hold the skin tight and before I knew it, she was done. I think it took about 15 minutes from start to end. I originally wanted a barbell, but she said that the starter jewelry had to be a ring because it is easier to clean and there wouldn't be a risk of the jewelry slipping out/through the piercing.
Tips
I would definitely ask a friend or someone you trust for a recommendation for a good place to go. Make sure that the needles and other tools are new or have been autoclaved aka sterilized. If you're happy with your piercing, let the piercer know by tipping generously, this also helps if you plan on going back for more.
