Description of service
I arrived with broken top Dentures. Due to many problems with top dentures, I accepted recommendation for steel enforced top dentures, but a normally made bottom. Which brought the cost up 30 dollars more than an unenforced top plate. I was seated and my mouth inspected. Then a plaster was applied to a cast and put in my mouth. I began to choke badly, you have to bit down hard and the resulting ooze goes down your throat. I was told to make circles with my feet, I was able to stop gagging as I did that.
Ten minutes later I was told to open my mouth. It was very hard to do. Finally got it open. The plaster stuck a bit in my mouth they cleaned it off.
I was then shown examples of the shade I could choose for the teeth, it was compared against what shade my broken dentures were. I was then led through the pricing for what I was chosen, and agreed to it. My insurance was all ready on record so I did not have to fill out any forms.
I came back 2 weeks later when called, the dentures were in. The color was good of the teeth so I did not need to send the dentures back. I spent time again in the chair as spots of the dentures that rubbed wrong on my gums were grind down. A process that would be ongoing in a few more walk in appointments for no charge.
Review of Service
The service was good, impersonal and rather fast. I did not wait long on any visit to see the doctor. A doctor performed the services, not an assistant. I was spoken to in manner I found appropriate. When I asked questions I was answered immediately and was always asked if that was what I wanted to know.
The office was clean and well lit. Music in the reception area was a little loud. The assistant and receptionist were both very kind and gracious. Understanding. I was comfortable at all times except with the goo in my throat. It's not pleasant but you can muddle through. I am still very happy with the results. They are much better dentures than the ones made for me ten years ago.
Tips
You can shop around for a better price. I settled on this dentist's office because it is convenient, I can tolerate the people there and they take my insurance. It can be very stressful for people to go to the Dentist. Let your doctor or the receptionist know if you have problems medically or just emotionally about the visit. You'll find they will graciously accomodate you, or reccommend another Dentist that can. Lastly it never hurts to know your dental insurance information, you can avoid some ugly surprises.
