Description of service
I recieved a speeding ticket in the mail from the city of Girard Ohio which was issued due to a traffic camera. Since my son was driving the car at the time I did not feel like I was responsible to pay the ticket. After calling city hall I found out that it was my responsibility. I was so furious I decided to fight for my cause and hire a lawyer.
I looked up traffic attorneys in the yellow pages and called one that struck me as having a good ad. He said he would take the case and possibly get me out of paying the $95 fine and more importantly prevent points from being put on my drivers license. Three days later he called me back to tell me that he had struck a deal with the prosecuter that he thought was favorable. I would have to pay the fine or have my son take responsibility for the ticket in writing, but no points would be added to my record.
Review of Service
The attorney informed me that fighting the matter further would be expensive so I accepted the deal. I later found out that the state does not even issue points for camera generated tickets. I felt as if i had been robbed.
Tips
When dealing with an issue like this you should find out the highest possible fine and penalty you face prior to contacting a lawyer. You can do this by calling the court itself. Also, weigh your options and decide if it is really worth the hassle to fight the ticket. This can save you money and trouble.
