Description of service
I hired an attorney to write my will and ensure that I had all of my financial and legal documents in order in the event that that should become necessary.
Review of Service
He did an excellent job of talking with me, learning what assets I had and what I wanted to do with each of them, and writing them down clearly and concisely while carrying on a conversation. He then had his secretary write the will and I came back a week later and signed it. He filed it, kept a copy, and gave me a copy. Admittedly, I don't have a huge number of financial assets or a lot of property, but I felt that this was a very reasonable price for the time he invested in making my wishes regarding these assets a legal, binding document.
Tips
1. Write down or make sure you know all pertinent information regarding the property you desire to bequest, including the address, size, location, and to whom you desire to leave it.
2. Know the exact amount of financial assets you are leaving to someone, particularly if you are leaving it to more than one person.
3. Write a will - make your wishes known - don't make your descendants struggle to decide what you may have wanted.
