Description of service
I got a 60 minute hot stone massage in Alameda. The massage cost $70 and I gave the massage therapist a $10 tip.
The massage therapist did some of the massage with hot (actually warm) stones, and some just with her hands and massage oil. She went a little over time, so it was probably about 65 minutes long.
The massage office is located in a building with a skin care specialist, a chiropractor, and a holistic healer. So, while it is not a spa, it is a relaxing environment focusing on healing. It was relaxing.
Review of Service
I have had better massages, although I enjoyed this one. I would have preferred having the hot stones used more during the hour, as I love hot stone massages. She didn't use the hot stones enough for me.
The massage itself was relaxing but she didn't get some of my muscle knots out. When she worked on my arms and legs, it was great, but my back and neck and shoulders (the parts that were really tense) were still pretty tense even after the whole massage was finished.
All in all, it was nice, and I don't regret it, but it was definitely not one of the better massages that I have gotten. I will probably not go back to this person, since I know massage therapists who I enjoy more.
Tips
A massage therapist is someone who should make you feel comfortable. Make sure that you communicate your needs and desires, and if anything ever feels uncomfortable or painful, ask the therapist to stop immediately.
