the Cost of Alterations and Mending

I had a store bought suit taken to the tailor. They made the necessary changes - altering the length of the pants and the length of the sleeves. I both dropped off and picked up the suit. It took about two days to finish the alterations.

They did a nice job altering my suit. It now fits pretty perfectly and looks like nothing was done to it. Both the length of the pants and of the sleeves is correct. Also, to their acclaim, they moved the buttons on the sleeves correctly; they are in the right place just as they were if they would have never been altered. The price seems pretty fair - about standard for what people charge around town. Though it perhaps cost a few dollars more, I chose this tailor because they have a good reputation of doing high quality work. They definitely lived up to their reputation and I haved used them again as a result of this experience.

Make sure you ask if they give a special on suit alterations. Some tailors will charge less to do a "package" of alterations - less than it would be if you took in a pair of pants and a jacket, for example.
