the Cost of Mobile Broadband Internet Access for a Computer

I signed up for mobile broadband internet access for my laptop with my mobile phone service provider. The deal is, you get a piece of hardware that turns mobile signals into internet access.

My deal was $39.99/month for unlimited uploads/downloads, but you can get cheaper plans with usage limits.

Although there were a few problems in setting up the hardware and the software that powered it, once that got worked out, I have absolutely no complaints about the broadband service.

I work from home, and often from coffee shops and public wifi hotspots, but I found that I was often let down by the reliability of the internet access in these places. Broadband solved that problem beautifully.

The service has been consistent and reliable, and basically any populated place where you would expect to have good phone reception, I have had good internet access. If the phone reception is low, the internet will be very slow, but usually still works.

I love love love my broadband service, but if I had my life to live over again, I would have spent a bit more time researching compatible hardware/software technologies to avoid the drama I had in the beginning.

Other than that, mobile broadband is a great service and I find it well worth the cost. For a long time, I didn't have regular internet access from my home, other than my broadband connection.
