Description of service
I currently purchase a mobile internet access plan that is attached to my mobile phone service. The cost is 34.99 plus my already established cellular cost. Included is Unlimited data usage including, internet, messaging, email, downloads, and attachments. There is no cost per kilobyte which can get expensive if you regularly use your internet service or download much from the email servers. You could also choose to purchase hardware at an additional cost that would allow this same plan to be used for a laptop computer so that you could get your wireless access wherever there were towers for cellular phone service.
Review of Service
The service I receive is not bad, but also not the greatest. I think the main complication has been the device I am using to pick up the service. Each phone is different and sometimes there can be compatibility issues with the phone or mobile broadband card, the operating system it is operating under and the wireless protocol being used.
Tips
The best advice I can give is to ask questions. Make sure that the phone or wireless card you purchase is both compatible with the network your phone uses and if your connecting to a laptop, with the operating system its using as well. As far as pricing unless you know exactly how much you plan to use the internet and how many kilobytes you plan to download (which includes the size of the pages you load) you want to get an unlimited plan. Paying by the kilobyte can get to be pretty pricey quite quickly. If you already have a cell plan and are not looking to extend your contract, make sure you ask if adding the additional service will force you into adding new time to your contract. Ask them to waive any connection fees or at least credit your account with the amount of the equipment. A lot of places will do this as a courtesy and to get your business if you ask for it.
