the Cost of Online Travel Agents

The ticket I bought from this online travel agency was about the best price I could find, given the schedule I wanted. The ticket itself was $525, but the online travel agency charged almost eight dollars extra in booking fees.

Since the online travel agency allows you to perform a search across so many airlines at the same time, it is really worth it paying them what I would term a 'convenience charge' for their services. They also offer 'cancellation insurance' so you don't have to pay the ridiculous $200-odd dollar charges for changing your flight date and/or time. I was sure that I would leave and come back on the dates I wanted, short of having a catastrophic event befall me, so I didn't buy that insurance, although I seriously considered it.

Know what you want before you start searching. The searches are dynamic, so if you don't make up your mind fast, especially when there is only '1 ticket at this price' with the exact schedule you want, you will miss your chance to book that particular flight. I had that happen and I ended up paying a little extra than I would have had I booked on my first search.
