Description of service
I hired a local neighbor girl whom I know fairly well because she is good friends with my daughter. I figure it will be cheaper than hiring a professional, I'll get better care and the young girl will still make a bigger paycheck than she's ever had. So I figured it was win win. The young girl was not only a house sitter but she also walked and fed the dogs twice a day. She would come over to turn on and off some lights so it looked like someone was home. The only other thing I asked was that she stay for about an hour with these lights on. She had free reign of the refrigerator and our big screen tv, so I'm sure she wasn't complaining about the situation. The $300 saved me probably about $1000 when you consider hiring an actual house sitter for and boarding the dog for one week.
Review of Service
I knew I could count on her because she is a close family friend who is very trustworthy. In fact I have already hired her for another week in the summer while I'll be gone in Costa Rica. The house looked just as we had left it when we returned. What a great girl.
Tips
I would most definitely recommend hiring a person who you or your family knows just to be sure they are trustworthy. In the end you'll be saving money and they'll be making money with very little work. It's great.
