Description of service
Digital home phone service with our cable provider. Single home phone line, unlimited long distance, caller ID, voicemail service, and cable modem are all included.
Review of Service
This is probably the most expensive home phone service I've ever had. When we built our house we chose not to install phone lines throughout the house other than one main outlet. Instead we had cable lines installed in each room because we use cable for our internet service. We initially weren't planning to even get a land line because our cell phones did the job just fine. One baby later, we decided that we wanted the security of a land line and really our only choice was to get digital phone service through our cable provider. We could have probably gone through the local phone company but that would require an installer to come to the house to actually hook us into the main service line because we never had it done when we moved in. long story short, it's a fine service with all the bells and whistles. Unlimited long distace makes this a pretty good deal if you frequently call long distance (we do). But we still use our expensive cell phones more than the land line for the convenience.
Tips
Caution! If you choose this type of service you'll need the phone to be located in a room with a cable outlet or else you'll need a phone that acts as a "base" which means it can be connected to the modem directly.
It's a nifty and realiable service but not the most affordable. If you're on a budget you may want to shop around.
