Description of service
Took child into the emergency room for abdominal pains. Had woken me up in the middle of the night to say her abdomen hurt and she was crying. Standard emergency room procedures were loosely followed.
Review of Service
They were far more interested in whether I had insurance or not and who my insurance provider was. When presented with insurance card which stated the co-pay for the visit, they couldn't take the payment as the business office was closed and the office clerk didn't know how to. Waited in a bed in the emergency room for 95 minutes before she was seen. Took temperature, did a blood draw, and palpitated her abdomen to only tell me she had gas and to go home. Gave no advice on the remedy or why in 12 years she had never had this problem before. Nurse finally came in and gave us some advice on how to treat. Then we were left to shuffle out on our own.
Tips
Wait for the Urgent Care to open up versus going to the emergency room of a hospital. It was a thorough waste of time and twice the expense as well. I found more information out on the internet than I did from the staff. Be ready to have to call on Monday to make a co-pay payment if you go in after hours on a weekend. Be also prepared to have to go to an allnight pharmacy for the prescription to be filled as their pharmacy is closed on weekends and after hours.
