Description of service
I got an "express facial" at a place that sells bath supplies and has a little spa in the back. The promised facial was to wash my face with a vitamin C-enriched cleanser, put on a moisturizing face wrap, a warm face wrap, and finish with toner and moisturizer.
That was the $35 facial. They accidentally prepared for for the full facial, which is $50 and includes exfoliation and aromatherapy "misting." I had the time, so I was fine with the accidental upgrade!
They have a full spa menu, and you can add this facial on to a massage.
Review of Service
It was a great facial. The warm face wrap makes me feel kind of claustrophobic, but I guess it's supposed to open your pores. I'm not sure that facials help your skin but it sure felt good. I especially like a face massage. I felt extremely relaxed afterwards.
Tips
One thing I usually don't like about facials is "extraction." Extraction is when they pick things out of your pores - like your mother always told you not to. It feels very invasive and frankly, gross, to me. This place doesn't do that. If extractions are something that might bother you, ask the person giving you the facial to explain. If you don't want them, say so! Remember, you are the one paying for the service.
As for other considerations, always let them know about your skin conditions - if you tend to have oily, dry, or normal skin, if it tends to break out, etc.
