Description of service
replacement and installation of a passenger-side side-view mirror for a 2008 Ford F-150 Crew Cab Short bed, bright red
Review of Service
I cannot believe how expensive this part is! I am not accustomed to driving a truck, and misjudged the width of the ATM lane at my bank while I was backing up. The result was a broken passenger-side mirror on my truck. The part itself was almost $500 to replace, and installation a little under a hundred dollars because it required wiring and some body work to have it mounted correctly. The shop did a great job installing the part, and didn't over-charge me, based on my research. It took several days to get the part in stock, but once it was there, it was installed and ready to go within a few hours. The shop was great about communicating with me, and giving me an accurate time-line, as well as cost for the repair. I would recommend this place to anybody who needs to have some minor repairs done to their vehicles.
Tips
Call around or check online to see if you can find a less expensive part--the part is the most expensive part of this repair. If you can find it cheaper at a salvage yard or through a website, by all means, do it. Get an estimate from a shop, and find out exactly what part you need, and then see if you can get it somewhere else cheaper, and bring the part to the shop for installation. A lot of these mirrors can be found in salvage yards for a fraction of the price, unless it is an extremely new vehicle, or an odd make or year.
