Description of service
The massage that I received for the noted price was for a 15 minute duration as part of a fund raiser by a local college's sports medicine department. The massage was primarily in the lower back, upper back, and shoulders, but also included a calf massage to loosen up hamstrings and included a container of a specialty balm to use on my legs in case I need to loosen the muscles up again on my own after bicycling or other strenuous activity.
Review of Service
The massage was priced fairly well for the duration, and the actual massage itself was very relaxing and worked wonders for my back. As these were people who had been trained in sports medicine and, as a direct result, massage therapy for sports related injuries and ailments. Overall, the massage was very well performed, as it was very deep into the knotted tissue, and the masseuse was very open to working on both the upper and lower back where there were spots of tightness.
Tips
If you're looking for a quick massage, look for a fund raiser or something similar offered by students that are looking for the opportunity to practice their trade on a real patient. That being said, a short massage is not always effective for the typical tightness sufferer and can actually do some damage if the problem area isn't properly treated. Look for someone that will be able to diagnose the tightness and determine if it could be helped by a short massage or not. If you're looking for simply a pleasure massage for a short period of time, look for a day spa or other therapy services that deal with shorter duration massage treatments.
