the Price of German Lessons

I took a 3 credit hour German language class at a local community college. It was $100 per credit hour and my text book cost $45. Handouts and scantron testing materials were provided by the teacher.

This was a good beginning German class. It was a good mix of book work and practice speaking with other students. We were required to do several projects throughout the semester that were interesting and definitely helped me learn more. This was the professor's first time teaching a class. There were pros and cons to this. The teacher didn't have a very good idea of how long he should be spending on each chapter. Some chapters we spent more time than I thought was necessary and then had to rush through other chapters to get everything covered before the required tests. On the plus side though, the teacher was very excited and motived to do a good job. His enthusiasm was infectious and made us all very excited about learning.

If you have a new teacher be a little patient with their teaching skills. Try to give them honest advice when the class is over so they can improve their teaching habits for the next class they teach.
