the Price of German Lessons

My firm recently decided to launch a joint venture with a German firm, and as such decided to encourage many of us who would be working with them in order to better communicate and relate to them. The cost covered 12 two hour lessons at a local language school, in addition to the language lessons, there was classwork books and worksheets for homework.

The instructor was a German national who has been living in the US for several years. They did a good job of conveying the basics of the German language, and how there are common roots with English, and how to make the most of these common roots. Basic verbs that are important were covered and conjugated, as well as phrases that come up in everyday business conversations. While I am not fluent by any means, when I went over to Germany, the company that we are doing business with was very impressed that so many of us took the time to make the effort to start learning their language.

Learning a foreign language is hard, and it was necessary to put the time in outside of class in order to get the most out of them.
