Description of service
This is the hourly fee charged by a personal shopper. She will either take the shopping list and go shopping for the person, or she will transport an individual to the stores and assist them with their shopping. She will help load and unload all merchandise and assist the person with putting it away if necessary. She is also agreeable to transporting a person to a medical appointment if necessary for the same hourly fee.
Review of Service
This is a great service for someone who is homebound due to disability or age. Frankly, it is less expensive to have groceries delivered, but the personal shopper will go to stores other than grocery stores. Also, elderly people and others who are not familiar with and cannot navigate the Internet would probably prefer the personal shopper over online shopping. It is also a means for them to get out and have some company for a brief period. This particular service is offered to residents of an assisted living facility. Although the facility will transport residents to the stores once each week, the residents enjoy the companionship and specialized assistance they can have while shopping with a personal shopper. With a personal shopper, the individual can pick which stores they want to visit and determine how long they will stay there. It is comforting to know if they tire out or do not feel well, someone is right beside them to assist.
Tips
If you or your loved one is going to engage in this type of business relationship, it is adviseable to get references before giving money to or getting into a vehicle with someone you don't know. In addition, I would check to make sure they have up-to-date auto insurance.
