the Cost of Personal Shoppers

My daughter was going to prom and was very picky about her dress. As we both have busy schedules we didn't have time to go to 20 different stores in search of the perfect dress. The task was made more difficult by the fact that she had no idea what kind of dress she wanted. We hired a personal shopper at a local mall to shop the different stores and bring about 40 options for us in my daughter's size.

This might be the best $50 I've ever spent. What would have taken easily 12 hours or more only took about an hour. The shopper even got the dress we chose on a discount so I ended up being under budget on the dress plus her fee. Before she went looking for dresses she had my daughter measured so we could make sure it would be a good fit. She also had her go through some magazines and point out what she liked and didn't like about different dresses so she could get a good idea of her style and what she was and wasn't looking for.

Make sure you get some kind of guarantee in writing that if the shopper doesn't find what you are looking for you get at least part of your money back.
