Hired a lawyer to handle negotiation and paperwork for my divorce. Divorce can be very overwhelming and confusing so having a lawyer that handles everything is a huge weight off someone's shoulders.

Getting divorced can be very expensive. Luckily I found a lawyer who charged a flat fee of $2,000. This fee included everything, negotiations, paperwork, and even appearing in court. Although it is a long process he did his job fairly well. My husband and I had already worked out visitation and custody so that was an issue we didn't need to spend much time on. Although we did choose an unorthodox visiting schedule of 7 days with mom then 7 with dad and so on, which I met a lot of resistance from the lawyer about. I know my kids and this was the best possible situation for them. Other than that he was very receptive to all the terms I had in mind and was careful to write them in the divorce agreement just as I had asked him to. He also took the time to answer all questions that I had very thoroughly.

When choosing a divorce lawyer don't just pick someone on price alone. Using someone that a person has recommended is a great way to find one. That way you can talk to someone who had firsthand experience dealing with that lawyer.
