the Cost of Water and Sewer Service

I pay the water and sewage bill for my parents home in Hurricane, West Virginia. Although they live in a kind of remote location, they get city water and sewage. The cost per month for the water my parents use, and the sewage they drain, is about $25 a month. This price can vary depending on how much they consume, but has never been less than $20 and has never been more than $40.

The service is perfect. It is a public service, so there have been times where they were doing work on the water line and my parents didn't have any running water for a few hours, but it has never been anything major. Once, the city put out a notice that we needed to boil our water before drinking it, but that only happened once and was only for two or three days. Overall we like the service, but then again, we don't have much choice.

You don't get much choice when it comes to your water and sewage service. If you're lucky enough to live near a city to get city service, go with that. Otherwise you'll be using septic systems and well water, which costs a bit more, and a lot harder to manage.
