Description of service
I went on a walking garden tour of a few neighborhoods in Chicago. It was put on by a volunteer gardening group. The cost was a $20 donation but I also gave my guide a $5 tip.
Review of Service
This was a beautiful walk. There were a number of people who signed up to be a part of the walk. We walked over approximately 2 miles of neighborhood. Most gardens were in front of their homes but for a few we had to go in their backyards, some through a fence to get there. This part made me feel somewhat uncomfortable for some reason, even though I was assured we had permission.
The guide knew a ton about flowers and told us a lot about the different kinds. She also talked about the history of certain plants and why certain plants worked really well in our climate.
The only complaint I had was that I felt as though the tour was a little too long. There are really only so many different flowers within a neighborhood and we looked at a lot of the same types of things several times.
Tips
Unless you live in an area with really a lot of diversity in the plant life, I think an hour is the maximum you'd want to go on a walk like this.
