Description of service
Just for fun a few years ago, I decided to take a horseback riding class. My friend told me about this guy that taught privately and I thought that would be good as I would get all the attention and only one person would see me if I messed up. The session lasted one hour for the $45.00 fee. You had to call and schedule it in advance. He also tried to sell me on his yoga on horseback class, but I was not interested. He taught me on his own horse, as I do not have a horse of my own. As a beginner, I was shown how to mount and dismount the horse, how to give the horse simple commands like left, right, stop, and start, etc.
Review of Service
I really enjoyed this lesson, but I never went back. I felt that $45.00 was a bit high priced for what I learned and the amount of time. I could have saved money with a group class, but then I would have forfeited the one on one training that I wanted. I liked the trainer, although he was a bit spacey at times and I had to keep reminding him that I was new to all of this and had not ridden a horse since I was a child. Overall I was pleased with the lesson and would recommend this trainer. I do think that if I were to ever do it again though, I would either pay for a longer lesson or join a group.
Tips
Do a little research before going to have lessons. Be sure that you know what to expect for the money you are going to spend and that you have some good references for the trainer you are going to see. Also, do not expect too much. I think I expected a lot more for my money than people who know about horses would, so I was disappointed. If I had done some research, I would have seen what I now know--that the rate was fair.
