I had an organic produce basket delivered to a friend for her holiday gift. It included 3 different kinds of vegetables and 2 kinds of fruit. It came in a biodegradable hemp basket.

This was a great service. I wasn't able to choose the type of vegetables or fruits delivered. My friend ended up getting a pound of strawberries and plums. The vegetables were corn, green beans and sweet pea pods. The basket was packed very prettily with recycled colored paper. The fruits were very fresh, sweet and ripe. The vegetables were ripe and delicious. My friend was very surprised and pleased. The basket also came with ideas for recipes that utilized each of the different fruits and vegetables. It was a very original and useful gift.

It is best to find local organic produce. The fuel used to transport fruits and vegetables across state or country lines is as detrimental to the environment as using pesticides is. If you're going to use a service like this keep in mind you usually can't pick and choose the types of fruits or vegetables you will be getting. Sometimes you will be able to veto certain products and tell them up front that you don't want specific things.
