Description of service
This service is a home delivery grocery that specializes in organic products. It's a wonderful idea seeing as sometimes organics may be hard to find in certain stores. We basically put in our order Monday night through their website, and our food arrives Thursday. They also try to provide as much local organic food as possible at a reasonable price. We like to provide support for local farmers around our area. This service is located an hour away, but they have a number of customers around our area. With the price of gas, that would be the only way to make a profit with this kind of buisness. Their website is very well layed out with several different categories and products. They offer a wide selection of meats, cheeses, breakfast items, chocolate, beverages, cleaning supplies, and of course produce. They also gave us a sheet that informed us when certain produce would be available. They also offer deals on dented apples or bruised bananas. The staff is very helpful and always available for questions and concerns. They also offer coupons occasionally for 10 percent off orders above a certain price. It's a nice incentive, and that is what got us started.
Review of Service
I think this is a fabulous price. If they charged too much for delivery no one would want to take part in the program. It's an incredible deal considering they are delivering an hour away. The service is always very professional and timely. They deliver a number of organic products, and it saves time and gas money. Organics can be hard to find depending on where you live. In San Antonio the organic movement is not so happening, but an hour north in Austin where this service exists, organics is a big deal. So, they did a great thing for us folks down here in San Antonio. They products are always fresh and packaged very well. The price is comparable to any store price. They package items in a cooler bag with frozen water bottles. That cooler bag is then placed in a crate. When we first signed up with the program there was a ten dollar refundable fee for the crate. This was understandable, and if you ever want to stop service with the company, your money is refunded. They also offer other small non grocery items such as bumper stickers or little doggy treats. It's a great idea.
Tips
The five dollar driver tip is a good idea. Basically it pays for gasoline. Keep the cost of delivery small or else someone will just go to the store. Organics is somewhat of a specialty item, so getting it delivered may be easier than trying to find it at the store. Just keep the cost of delivery down. Advertising would also be key. They drive a big van around with their logo printed on it. We found them on the internet, but if they wanted to tap into San Antonio region more perhaps they should advertise in the local paper. Keeping the food fresh and cold would be vital, and as I mentioned above the cooler bag and crate system works pretty well. When they drop off the food, they pick up the crate from last week. Also, the five dollar driver tip is included in your order automatically. That saves any confusion with the delivery person and client. I guess the one biggest down fall to this service is just not having everything we might want. We actually go to three different grocery stores trying to find the best local organic food, so diversity is key in this buissness.
