the Price of Language Schools

I took a 6 week beginning conversational Italian class. The cost for the 6 weeks was $150 and it included our workbook.

I was planning a trip to Italy and decided I wanted to be able to say a few things while visiting. I signed up for this class but by the time it started the trip was off. I took the class anyway, as there were no cancellations accepted.

The teacher was good and I felt the price was very reasonable for the length of the class. However, I did feel my money was wasted as Italian is not a language I will likely be using often. Even if I do end up going to Italy eventually the fact that I won't have any way to practice what I've learned means I'll probably forget most of it.

The class was mostly taught from the workbook with a little bit of talking to the other students one on one. I will admit to not working as hard outside of the class as I should have which definitely led to me not getting as much out of the class as I could and should have.

If you are learning a language for a specific reason, try to find a class that will allow you to cancel and get at least a partial refund in case your plans change.
