Description of service

I took a Japanese beginners language class. It met once a week for 3 months and cost $150 including the price of our workbook and text.

Review of Service

A local community center offers a different language class every 3 months. When I saw Japanese come up I thought that would be very interesting.

I was more or less pleased with the class. We didn't learn any Japanese characters or anything, it was all phonetic. The teacher had never taught before and while he wasn't the greatest teacher he was very enthusiastic which made up for some of his shortcomings.

One thing I did really like about the class was that they had workbooks and textbooks for us to use and take home. We were not allowed to write in the workbooks and had to write our own answers on our own paper but having these at our disposal definitely saved a lot of money.

Overall I'm glad I took the class but nothing we learned really stuck with me. I think the class was too short, plus there aren't a lot of people around here I can practice my skills on to keep what I've learned fresh.

Tips

These short classes can be fun but will probably not give you lasting information on the language you are learning.
