the Cost of Hair Color with Cut and Style

I was visiting my family in Wichita, Kansas when I decided it was time for me to do something with my hair. I first went in to the salon for a consultation on what I wanted to get done first. I told them I wanted the top part of head, basically three quarters of my head, to be dies straight black and the last bottom quarter to be died a deep colored blue. The hair stylist told me it would be ninety minute process and it would cost seventy-five dollars. With that in mind, I made an appointment to come back two hours later. I came back and the hair stylist suggest that I choose a different color instead of blue, since it most likely will fade faster into an uglier color. She suggested a dark purplish or reddish color, and I listened to her suggestion. While she was coloring my hair, I thought about style my hair too, so I wanted a cut. I previously asked her what would it cost to cut my hair, she told me fifteen dollars, now she stated twenty dollars. So with the haircut and coloring alone, it became ninety-five dollars, so that blew my mind away. I tipped her fifteen dollars, just to be considerate. $110 just for my hair, WOW!

I came to my scheduled appointment in time with the same lady who consulted me when I first walked into the salon. So, when I came into the salon, promptly I shall gladly say, the hair stylist was eating. That was very unprofessional of her to be still eating when she knew she has an appointment with me. When I walked in, she said please wait a couple of minutes more. So, instead of putting her lunch down, she wanted her customer to wait instead. Five minutes rolled by, ten minutes rolled by, and then fifteen minutes rolled by and she was finished. I told her and showed her how much I wanted the bottom died, she did less of what i asked for. It seemed like she rushed the process. Since she had a "usual" customer waiting for her, she didn't do a perfect job on my hair cut. She cut it unevenly, and I even pointed out to her and she didn't even want to hear me out. I guess, she feels since she's the stylist, she's right. She didn't really socialized with me, only with other customers, the "usuals" in the salon. Overall, my experience at the salon was horrible, I would never come back there. The price that I paid was not worth it.

Before you go to any salon, get some advice. Whether it is from friends or family, or just people in the street who have great hair, seek their advice. Do a lot of research and don't rush into it just because your schedule just happened to open up that day. If a salon A cost more than salon B, sometimes it is best to go to the one that cost more, because you get what you pay for. In my case, I guess $75 is the minimal average price for colored hair, and with the amount of hair I have.
