We hired a temporary accounting employee to help us with our half-year end closing statements. We paid $17 per hour for their service.
Review of Service
We actually hired this person last year for $15. However, this year, they required more money so we ended up paying $17 an hour. It was well worth it though, as the person had vast experience within our company and knew exactly what we were looking for and how our internal computer systems worked.
They worked on an at-needed basis when we called them. He was a student so this worked out well, as we didn't want to commit to certain hours per week and then have them sit around when we didn't have work for them.
However, there were a few times we needed things fairly quickly and had to wait a day or two to have this employee be ready for this. This was, however, the price you pay for not having someone paid to be around in case you need help.
Tips
If you need someone to help with year end, half end or quarterly closing, be sure to consider if it's worth it to pay them to be around all the time or if you want to pay more to have them on call.
